Katie Porcelius studied dance, music and drama at North Central College receiving her B.A. in Musical Theater Performance. She has been teaching the art of dance and choreographing children’s musicals for the past 17+ years. She has been actively involved in many performing arts programs, musicals, drama classes and dance camps. Katie is certified in Progressive Ballet Technique, studying under Robyn Segel Shifren and most recently certified in Acrobatic Arts. Katie developed her passion for dance at a young age training with several local studios including Love to Dance Studio, the School of Performing Arts, as well as master classes from Lou Conte Dance Studio with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Katie has achieved commercial and print work while listed with several Chicago talent agencies pursuing acting on camera doing print ads and regional commercials. Katie loves incorporating a variety of training and conditioning elements in class to increase dancer range and versatility.
Katie enjoys teaching dancers of all levels and ages. She strives to challenge her students in a safe and motivating atmosphere. "My goal is to encourage my students to chase their dreams no matter how out of reach they may seem. I love seeing them reach the goals that they set in class because every day is a gift and an opportunity to learn a new skill." Katie and husband Nick are proud parents to two young daughters. We are very excited to be sharing the world of dance with them both!
